Alden Nowlan


Alden Nowlan is one of Canada's most beloved and enduring poets. Born in 1933 near Windsor, Nova Scotia, he published over fifteen books of poetry, along with several volumes of stories and legends. He was awarded the Governor General's Award for Poetry and two President's Medals from the University of Western Ontario for his fiction. From 1968 until his deat in 1983 Alden Nowlan was the Writer in Residence at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. The Gardens of the Wind (Thistledown, 1982) was the last volume of Nowlan's poetry to be published in his lifetime.
